Do I need an Education Harvester API key?
Yes, and it is purchased separately from Cadmium—MetaSprout does not include or resell it. MetaSprout works only with the Education Harvester API, not with other Cadmium products. Once your Cadmium administrator provides the key, MetaSprout only ever reads through it; if the key is revoked, the last successful sync stays on your site untouched.
How often does it sync?
Every 15 minutes by default, per event, and you can set it to 5 minutes during a live event or once a day off-season. There is also a manual "Sync now" button and a WP-CLI command for your IT team.
Will it match my theme?
The widget renders semantic HTML with predictable class names and inherits your theme's type and color. Templates are overridable from your child theme, the same way WooCommerce templates are.
Does it need any other plugins?
No. MetaSprout has no third-party dependencies—no ACF, no page builder. The front end is plain shortcode and template output, so it drops into a block editor page, a classic template or a builder text widget alike.
Can I map custom fields?
Any Education Harvester field, including custom ones your team defined, can be assigned to a session or presenter field. Mappings are per event, so a field can mean one thing at this year's meeting and another at next year's.
What happens if Education Harvester is unreachable?
Nothing visible. Your agenda is served from your own database, so the page keeps rendering the last good sync. Failed attempts retry with backoff and log a notice in the admin.
